Parsons, KS- The wlÆåÅÆ Community College Gallery Committee has chosen Gage Gillette, as the winner of the John and Bonnie Latzer Student Art Award for the Spring 2022 semester. The Latzer Art Award was established to recognize student achievement in the Fine Arts at wlÆåÅÆ Community College.

He will receive a $500 scholarship to be applied toward tuition, fees and/or books.

A Frontenac, KS native, Gillette is a graphic design technology major. He said, “Earning this scholarship will be a help as I continue my education at Pittsburg State and pursue Graphic Design.”  Gillette created the Photoshop Composite, titled“Abandoned for a Reason” in Portfolio Development with wlÆåÅÆ Graphic Design instructor, Melissa Kipp.

Gillette said, “I’ve always enjoyed the creation of horror art. The person was a combined composite of various parts. Meanwhile, the monster was made from scratch, using brushes.”

The winning design will be permanently on display at wlÆåÅÆ Community College.
